Free take-back with certificate of disposal

Ever since the End-of-life Vehicle Act entered into force, you as the customer (final owner of the vehicle), have the option of returning your end-of-life vehicle free of charge to the manufacturer.

Your vehicle must however meet the following requirements:

  • It is a passenger car with up to 9 seats or a van up to 3.5 t.
  • All key components such as drive system (engine, transmission, etc.), chassis, body, catalytic converter or electronic control units are in the vehicle.
  • The vehicle must be free from additional waste.
  • The vehicle must have been registered in an EU country for at least one month before disposal.
  • The registration documents are handed over at the same time.

In order to deregister your old vehicle you need a "disposal certificate". This certificate proves that your vehicle has been disposed of in accordance with the regulations.
It can be issued only by certified dismantling facilities, certified and authorised recycling workshops, or collection points named by the manufacturer.
