The A-Class petrol engines are anything but tame - yet they still deserve the good grades they get for behaviour. Our engineers have gone all out to ensure that these engines really perform. You have the choice of the A 160 or A 160 BlueEFFICIENCY with 70 kW, the A 180 or A 180 BlueEFFICIENCY with 85 kW, the A 200 with 100 kW and the A 200 TURBO with 142 kW. Even the entry-level model (A 160 or A 160 BlueEFFICIENCY) delivers a superb maximum torque of 140 Nm at 3500 to 4000 rpm. The A 200 achieves 185 Nm at 3500 to 4000 rpm, while the A 200 TURBO leads the list with 280 Nm at 1800 to 4850 rpm. And there is yet another top achievement to report: all petrol engines without supercharger in the A-Class range already meet the strict EU 5 emissions standard.
Easy on the environment and your wallet: the optimised ECO start/stop function, which is available as standard for the manual transmission versions of the A 160 BlueEFFICIENCY and A 180 BlueEFFICIENCY: at traffic lights and in stop-and-go traffic, this function reduces fuel consumption, and consequently emissions, by automatically switching the engine off – and restarting it in a split-second as soon as you depress the clutch pedal fully.
