EEV standard

Lower particulate emissions than Euro 5

The EEV (Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicles) emissions standard was introduced back in 2000 and has strict limits similar to those of Euro 5. However, the limits for particulate emissions are approx. 33% lower than those of the Euro standard. That means EEV is currently the strictest European emissions guideline for commercial vehicles such as buses and trucks.

Although the EEV emissions standard is not a legal requirement, incentives will be offered to comply with these guidelines.

From February 2010 Atego vehicles will be available with the option of a 160 kW (218 hp) engine line-up, which meets the EEV emissions standard. From April 2010 Atego vehicles will also be available in the engine variants of 130 kW (177 hp), 175 kW (238 hp), 188 kW (256 hp) and 210 kW (286 hp), each from 12 tonnes, which then also meet the EEV emissions standard.

Newly registered vehicles which meet the EEV standard may also qualify for a support programme set up by the KfW banking group. If the vehicle purchase is planned, it is recommended that the buyer submit an application. Applications are verified by KfW, processed according to application date and, if approved, support is provided retroactively.
